Mari

The leader/Vocalist/guitarist

what is the your trademark part of your vocals and guitar?

It is my guitar riffs! I like to think of weird guitar riffs that ordinarily people wouldn't think of, kinda makes you laugh, its funny, cute, cool and mysterious. Its a guitar riff which makes you wanna sing I think. And the rest of it is easy and simple, I am not good at playing the guitar so I play it simple but tasteful. Also I want to play. The most important thing isI'm not guitarist, but I am the guitar/vocalist, so when I don't need the guitar I don't play and I don't want to do unnecessary things. It is something unique about me too. About vocal, I think my voice is my own, unique. I have different voices and my voice reaches people a lot. So I love my voice. I think about the melody with the lyrics together, so it is also important that the words and the song connect together. And to make the melody everybody wants to sing, the melody and shout(rap) which nobody can sing, and the lyrics which are interesting, surprising, and make the heart beat fast, thats what I want to make.

What is the main difference between your american fans and your japanese fans?
Americans can have fun and warm up by themselves (she is saying, you can have fun by yourself, not with your friends) but Japanese people are shy, so it seems like they need a buddies to warm them up. But now both countries warm up the same amount. Oh but American fans ask me to write an autograph on their ass or boobs but Japanese don't, lol

What is the creation process like for you(products and image concepts)

tsushimamire, cute but poisoness, girl but hard rock, earnest but silly, I think tsushi is like that. Probably the album covers and the other stuff show that. Pregnant Fantacy's album cover is cute but scary doll. Brain shortcake is three wicked little girls that are like the devil and really complicated tangled brain shortcake tree. These two are made by desighner who listened our songs and are imagined from our lyrics and the songs. Same about the T-shirts. About Chinpo-kun, we like to talk about shimo-neta (perverted girl talk) and just made it.We thought that it might be fun to make it for real when we just talked about it as a joke. Making the joke a real is really a fun thing! Tsushi has a lot of songs like that.

what type of clothes do you wear?

I like 1960's European used cloths. I like to wear a French used one piece and stuff.

how does it feel to be famous?

I am not that famous yet! lol But recently I am told "I saw you at Kouenji", "I saw you at Kichijyoji", "You are tsushimamire-san, aren't you?"! Then it makes me think "oh, I became a little bit famous now". I am happy but embarassed. I don't know who sees me now so it makes me think that I should be careful about my appearance.

what kind of work did you do before tsushimamire?

I was working at a restaurant until a little while ago, waitress, wash dishes and cooking. The real job I had was middle school teacher. I had a class and taught 1st and 3rd grades. I was a teacher which hang around and play a lot with the kids! I really couldn't do my job well I was helped by the other teachers a lot. I loved kids and I had fun! (only does tsushi now)

What is your favorite song and how do you come up with songs?

Thank you! (I complimented her voice) It makes me feel good when I sing "Jinsei Kengai" too (I commented that I really like how expressive she is when she sings jinsei kengai). "Kenketsu song" and "I wanna chi", it was really hard to think the lyrics at the moment at the live. We haven't had a live recently so I want to do it someday. I like my guiter on "Yoi tempo desu". For me, I like "Sakuran boy" and "Jinsei kengai" as a song, and "Cutie beauty cupid" as a guiter play. Uhmm but I can't decide.....

How much do you practice a day?

As a band, we practice five hours at studio, 3~4 days a week. But sometimes we only chat lol But it is also important time just to chat with everyone. Some good ideas come up on that time! At house, I do finger exercises, but recently I am slacking off. One hour....I need to do it more!

Do you play video games?

I like it! Super mario. I did final fantasy recently. In the old days, I played Doctor Mario on famicom (8-bit nintendo).

Do you prefer live or the studio?

Live!
So how do you feel about having a stand up in tower records?

yay! Japan might start noticing us finally!

Mizue

The drummer

what is the your trademark part of your drums?

the most important thing for me when playing the drums is to have fun and to feel good while doing it.

Whats the difference between american fans and japanese fans?

about our fans, it is the same for Japanese and American. All of them have fun and go wild, makes me happy. The people who see tsushimamire first, Japanese people are like surprised and "????" mark on their face and just watch us quietly. But it is also fun. In USA, people go wild soon and dance, it is fun.

What types of clothes do you wear?

Asian style cloths Asian is like......colorful skirt and tops Links to asian style http://esearch.rakuten.co.jp/rms/sd/esearch/vc?sv=2&f=A&g=100371&v=3&p=3&e=0&s=0&oid=000&k=0&sitem=%A5%A8%A5%B9%A5%CB%A5%C3%A5%AF+%A5%A2%A5%B8%A5%A2%A5%F3&x=0&c=1794 http://www.shams.jp/

how do you feel to be famous?
I am really happy that a lot of people getting know us and they have fun and surprised by us.

What was your last job?

I am a waitress right now.

What is your favorite song

I like baka moto kare-, it feels good to play. I think that, Baka moto kare- in album "nomiso shortcake" was the best ever

How much do you practice a day?

3~4 times a week, only when we do rehearsals

What's your favorite videogame?

Dragon Quest

Do you have a dame otoko in your life?

Well dame otoko varies, I think there are a lot of types of dame otoko, I would say it is not like I like dame otoko but I am not good at perfect men
(Dame otoko is like a good for nothing man, or a similar concept, I believe. She states she likes dame otoko on her blog, thats why i asked)

Do you prefer live or the studio?

Both has own enjoyment so I like both. I think it is fun to communicate with people at live and it is fun to express my play very politely at recording

What was it like to have your own stand at tower record?

when I started having a band, I couldn't imagine it. Therefore..it was like a dream! When I first saw our CDs in listening booth, I observed the people who are listening to our CD!

Interview for the new album (to be translated soon)

EMM: 「HYPER SWEET POWER」

まり : ライヴの初めに“We are now working with THE POWERPUFF GIRLS! Do you know this?”

初日にL.A.
